North Caldwell, New Jersey

North Caldwell has a rich history. The area was first settled in 1669 by William Penn and other Quaker settlers. The settlers were a part of the original European settlers who arrived in New Jersey around 1667. The borough was formed in 1895 out of portions of Caldwell Township. The borough's current name, North Caldwell, was chosen to distinguish it from the other Caldwell in the area at the time. The borough experienced growth in the late 1800s through the early 1900s. Many of the current homes in North Caldwell were built before World War II, and the borough was home to many affluent families during this period. The borough was mostly farmland until the 1940s when the population began to grow due to the influx of commuters to New York City. North Caldwell is full of local attractions, whether you are looking for historic landmarks, outdoor activities, shopping and dining, or entertainment. The Montclair Nature Center is a 226-acre park with various wildlife, trails, and educational programs. The Great Notch Park is picturesque, with a playground, hills, and walking paths.
